question for the lax community

Lax nation,

I have a question for you.  Would you be willing to pay an increased league entry fee for the Spring session of CCLA (going from $125 to say $160) if CCLA got new awesome sublimated reversible pennies, shorts and shooter shirts...then after the season you got to keep the shooter shirt and the shorts?  Please let me know tonight if you get this.

here is a design I've been playing around with...assuming we are still the CCLA Braves

Cheap way to hang your lax sticks up

I wanted to share a quick idea I came up with for getting all of the those lax sticks off of the floor in your kids rooms.  It is very simple and very cheap.  The handle on your kid's sticks is about the size of a broom handle.  Which makes it perfectly shaped and sized for a boom handle hanger!!!!

In the picture below I took a standard broom handle hanger that you can purchase at a large orange or blue box store and secured it with 1/2" small wood screws to a piece of 1" wood (I used a piece of yellow pine shelf board) cut to 4"x4" to give it some stability.  Then I drilled a hole through the wood blocks, marked the wall with a pencil and then used regular dry wall mollies to attach the wood blocks to the wall.  Instant wall hangers for those lax stick!

Don't forget about Wednesday nights at Pine Ridge Middle School, 6-8.  Sign up on the CCLA website.

Hope this helps!!!!!

Summer Open Field for Lax

I hope all the kids had a great time the lax season and are now ready for some more.  I have made arraignments with CCLA to host an open field at Pine Ridge Middle on Wednesdays from 6-8.  The intent is to keep a stick in the kids hands (boys and girls) so those finely honed stick skills don't go away.  As it stands right now we will have 4 goals at Pine Ridge.  We will split the kids up according to who shows up.  We will do skills and drills, scrimmage or whatever...most importantly we will be LAX'n in some form or fashion.

Here are the rules and commitments needed from parents....
  1. All kids have to have an active US Lacrosse membership.  This will protect everyone with insurance.
  2. Everyone is going to be required to register through the CCLA website and the cost will be $20 for the entire summer.  The $20 is to cover the cost of balls, nets, cones, goals and any pennies I loan out for scrimmages.
The first open field is this Wed May 23rd.  I will be lenient on the registration for the first one. If you are not by the second one I will not let your child participate.  This is to protect me, your child and you. The plan is to do this every week on Wed from 6-8 from now until Day Light Savings Time ends.  That's the plan anyway.  Please understand the plan may change, but I will do my best to make sure someone is there to supevise the fields every week.

This is not limited to just boys.  I can't guarantee that there will be a girls coach at the field, but catching, throwing and shooting skills are universal.  Come one, come all.
